IOM3 runs annual competitions for student and early career members and non-members, lecture competitions to develop presentation skills, packaging design competitions to reward talent in creativity and annual awards to celebrate achievement and excellence in IOM3 members that have recently completed a qualification or apprenticeship in a materials, minerals or mining related field.

We also have member networks bringing together people who may be in an under-represented group in our profession. Our member networking groups are listed below.
