WIM3 Celebrates International Women's Day in London
On 27 February, WIM3 met in person at IOM3, 297 Euston Road in London to celebrate their 12 year anniversary and International Women's Day.
The Women in Materials, Minerals & Mining (WIM3) Group met for their annual event last week to celebrate their anniversary and on International Women's Day - especially marking the occasion of the second female President of IOM3 in a row.
WIM3 Chair Dr Margaret Wegrzyn MIMMM welcomed the attendees to the Bessemer Room with an introduction, followed by a Keynote speech by Christine Blackmore CEnv CSci FIMMM. This year's theme was 'Women making their Mark', and we invited women in STEM, materials, minerals, and mining industries to share their perspectives, experiences, and advice for others in similar fields, followed by a dynamic networking session with all the speakers and attendees present.
The speakers included:
- Dr Aimee Goodall CEng CSci FIMMM, Through Chain Value Manager, Tata Steel
- Susan Robson MBE, CEO, Women's Engineering Society
- Dr Sarah Glanvill, Lead Material Scientist, Renishaw plc
- Dr Kate Thornton CEng CSci FIMMM, IOM3 Past President & Lead Research Scientist, Croda
We are grateful to our speakers for making the time to join us to celebrate the day and to all the attendees for their contribution and enthusiastic participation.
If you were not able to join us in person, a recording of the sessions is available on the website as an on-demand webinar to view free of charge. Please log in, and book a ticket to receive the link to view in your email.
