US to accelerate permits for domestic critical minerals
The Department of the Interior is expediting the approval of projects for energy resources.

Reviewing permits on the identification, leasing, siting, production, transportation, refining or generation of energy will be cut down from years to as much as 28 days.
The procedures apply to the following energy resources:
- Crude oil
- Natural gas
- Lease condensates
- Natural gas liquids
- Refined petroleum products
- Uranium
- Coal
- Biofuels
- Geothermal energy
- Kinetic hydropower
- Critical minerals
President Trump declared a National Energy Emergency earlier this year, with Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum saying it ‘has made it clear that our energy security is national security’.
Emergency authorities will act as the final decision makers when notifying stakeholders within the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act and National Historic Preservation Act.
