UKAEA awards £6.8mln contracts for fusion energy
Seven organisations have secured contracts with the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority to delveop fusion energy solutions and technologies to 'proof of concept' stage.
The contracts were awarded to organisations focusing on digital engineering and fusion fuel requirements.
The challenges were launched through the Small Business Research Initiative Competition as 'Innovation Competitions' with contracts funded by the Fusion Industry Programme - launched in 2021.
The organisations focusing on digital engineering include Full Matrix Ltd and the University of Manchester, while those that aim to reduce fuel requirements include Genoa, AqSorption, IS-Instruments, the University of Bristol and the University of Liverpool.
