UK Government releases White Paper on artificial intelligence
The UK government has released a white paper entitled AI regulation: a pro-innovation approach.
The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology propose plans to regulate use, not technology, in the White Paper. It intends to do this under five principles of safety, transparency, fairness, accountability and contestability.
The UK AI sector has grown recently, with 50,000 people employed and £3.7bln contributed to the economy last year alone.
“The government’s commitment to helping UK companies become global leaders in AI, while developing within responsible principles, strikes the right regulatory balance.’ says Rashik Parmar MBE, Chief Executive of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.
