The trial is on a busy road in Sweden. Between 8,000 and 10,00 cars use the road each day.

The work is a result of the EU project Rewofuel, designed to produce various bio-based products from forestry residues. Peab Asfalt is one of eleven partners within the EU industrial development project has added softwood hydrolysate lignin produced by Sekab to their asphalt production.  The Rewofuel project will end in May 2021.
