Jude Allan

Chair, IOM3 Packaging Society

Jude started as a packaging technologist at the drinks division of Mars before taking the experience of life as a client over to the world of a packaging design agency.

For almost 20 years Jude championed and led the production and creative operations at jonesknowlesrtichie as it grew from a London based packaging design agency to a global design business with offices in London, New York, Singapore and Shanghai.

Jude and her team were responsible for delivering creative packaging designs into market for a wide range of much-loved brands from global favourites to local heroes as well as launching new start-up brands.

Working closely with brands such as Budweiser, Mars, Molton Brown, McVitie’s, Dulux paints and Hippeas, she has a rich and varied experience of the packaging industry, the challenges of innovation and the needs of brand owners to respond to their consumers demands.

 In 2018 she took on the role of chief operating officer at a start-up engineering agency in London with a manufacturing and project management office in Shenzhen, China. She spent a frenetic eighteen months at RPD International professionalising the business and developing the skills of a young group of entrepreneurs and engineers.

Jude now chairs the IOM3 Packaging Group.

She has a BEng in Materials Science and the IOM3 Diploma of Packaging Technology

Margaret Bates

Executive Director, OPRL Ltd | IOM3 Packaging Society

Margaret Bates is Executive Director of OPRL and a Visiting Professor of Sustainable Waste Management at the University of Northampton.  She is a Fellow of IOM3 and of CIWM and a member of the IOM3 Packaging Group board.  She is well know in the waste and resource sector and is a member of the DEFRA Resource and Waste Target Expert Group

Rob Thompson

Packaging Manager, Co-op Food

Rob leads the packaging sustainability strategy for Co-op’s own brand products. He has worked in packaging development for over 20 years with experience gained in composite can manufacturing, frozen food, soft drinks and retail. Rob is a Chartered Environmentalist and a Fellow of IOM3 and recently completed an MSc in Management Practice at Alliance Manchester Business School.

Jamie Riley

Divisional Sustainability Manager, Berry Superfos

Jamie Riley joined Berry Superfos as UK Sustainability Lead in January 2022 to provide support to the business and their customers in minimising the impact of packaging placed onto the UK market. Since then, Jamie has evolved the role to cover mainland Europe with responsibility to ensure company global packaging related sustainability targets are met. Jamie currently sits on sustainability committees for the BPF (British Plastics Federation) and BCF (British Coatings Federation). Prior to working for Berry Superfos, Jamie worked as a trainer and educator in the beauty industry.  

Roger Wright

Waste Strategy & Packaging Manager, BIFFA

Roger is bringing years of knowledge and experience gained in packaging Manufacturing and Retail, to the UK’s leading Waste Management business, Biffa. His team have developed a unique perspective in support of corporate businesses efforts to become more sustainable and circular, by thinking differently about the materials they consume. A creative and collaborative approach helps Biffa and its customers redesign or design-out packaging they don’t need, and implement the innovative, scalable alternatives they do.

Sophie Walker

CEO, Dsposal

Sophie is the CEO and Co-Founder of Dsposal a clean-tech company, who along with its sister social enterprise Your Dsposal, is on a mission is to empower people to make better decisions with their resources and waste by increasing transparency and accountability to make a positive impact on our environment. Prior to founding Dsposal, Sophie gained a degree in Conflict Resolution, cycled 8700 miles around North America, and enjoyed a winding career encompassing supply chain, the food industry and sustainability. She won an Innovate UK Women In Innovation award in 2021 and was voted joint 5th in the 2019 Resource Hot 100.

Talia Goldman

ESG Manager, Colpac Ltd

Talia is the ESG Manager at Colpac, an award-winning British designer and manufacturer of innovative food packaging solutions.

At Colpac, Talia leads on multiple strategic projects including net zero and deforestation free supply chains. Prior to this, she spent five years working in political communication, nature policy and campaigning, and sustainability at the European Parliament, the Cabinet Office, and as Co-Director for youth campaigning movement UK Youth for Nature (UKY4N). She sits on the Board of both UKY4N and Global Canopy, a data-driven not for profit that targets the market forces destroying nature.
