Sweden to investigate nuclear power
A statement from the Swedish government says that it is working to remove obstacles to nuclear power.

It is, ‘working actively to remove obstacles and create the conditions for a vigorous expansion of electricity production and for new nuclear power to be built in Sweden’.
The statement reports that the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority had been tasked with analysing the development and adaptation of the regulatory framework for existing and future nuclear power. This has now been finalised in the form of a report delivered to the Minister of Climate and Environment Romina Pourmokhtari.
The authority has also investigated what other measures may be needed for Sweden to be able to fully use both existing and future nuclear power.
The authority is reported to have called for amendments to the Environmental Code, the Nuclear Technology Act and the Radiation Act so that the country can benefit from the technological development that has taken place in the nuclear power area.
The proposals outlined in the report could provide shorter lead times when preparing permits.
