Standards network investigates reproducibility in Raman Spectroscopy

International standardisation network VAMAS has launched a consultation survey on Raman Spectroscopy.

This project will examine the extent to which reproducibility is a challenge, the situations where it is a concern, and the perceived importance of various possible technical issues.

The survey results will help determine where more information is needed and inform preparation of a guide that will articulate best practice for reporting Raman Spectroscopy-based analyses.

In recent years, Raman Spectroscopy has become a common analytical technique used in research and development of new materials, testing and quality assessment.
Users are obtaining, reporting and drawing conclusions from the resulting data. However, VAMAS notes that at present there are a lack of standards for reporting. As a result, many reports fail to provide sufficient information about the testing procedures, and this is a barrier to reproducibility.

This survey is open until the Autumn and invites international participation.
