Romania launches largest centralised deposit return system
The city of Cluj will host the world's largest Deposit Return System, with almost 80,000 collection points.
Romania will be joining 13 other EU countries with deposit return schemes to increase collection and recycling rates of single-use beverage containers.
The Romanian system will use software from Slovakian technology company Sensoneo, which integrates all stakeholders and gathers data from all sources along the process chain.
The new system will cover plastic, glass and metal beverage containers from 0.1L-3L.
The deposit per bottle will be 0,5 Romanian lei, which is roughly €0.1.
