Octopus Energy has invested in the world's largest subsea power cable to deliver solar power to the UK from Morocco.

Xlinks will build four 3,800km cables to connect the huge solar farm with Devon. It will supply 3.6GW of power for around 20 hours a day, enough to power 7 million heat pumps a year.

Although economic, environmental and archaeological impact assessments are still being undertaken, the cable is expected to be operational by 2027 and deliver £48/MWh.
