Run by niobium processing company CBMM, the site in Araxá is dedicated to producing UK-based Echion Technologies’ XNO ultrafast-charging, active anode, niobium oxide material technology.

CBMM claims the plant can produce 2,000t per year of the anode material. That is equivalent to 1GWh of lithium-ion cells.

XNO is used to electrify heavy-duty industrial, commercial and mass-transport vehicles.

By 2030, CBMM aims to reach a capacity of 20,000t of niobium oxide for batteries.
