IOM3 Energy Transition Group welcomes new Chair

IOM3 is pleased to announce the appointment of Tony Palmer CEng FIMMM as the new Chair of the Energy Transition Group.

Tony Palmer CEng FIMMM has been appointed the Chair of the Energy Transition Group following the IOM3 Executive Board's acceptance of the recommendation from the Nominations Committee.

Tony is passionate about developing pragmatic and cost-effective frameworks to meet the mounting pressures of energy security sustainability to reach net-zero. His experience will no doubt be integral the Group.

In his own words, 'I am very honoured to be appointed as the new Chair of the Energy Transition Group. This is a relatively new group, having been established in 2020 in response to the growing importance of the global challenge of meeting net-zero emissions targets by 2050, if not sooner. Since 2020, there has been a considerable increase in the development of low-carbon technologies such as renewables, carbon capture, biofuels, nuclear and hydrogen to help meet the net zero challenge. However, we are now at a pivotal point with competing pressures of sustainability, energy security and affordability impacting the pace of progress to net-zero. Developing pragmatic, cost-effective solutions and frameworks to meet this challenge is something I am passionate about. I look forward to working with the Leadership Team, members of the Energy Transition Group, and the wider IOM3 stakeholders in providing technical expertise and guidance to help develop these solutions.'
