IOM3 celebrates 2023 Awards Day
IOM3 hosted the 2023 IOM3 Awards Day on 7 December to celebrate professional achievements, outstanding contributions to outreach and in the field of science and engineering.
IOM3 Chief Executive Dr Colin Church CEnv FIMMM, welcomed winners, nominators and special guests to a day of celebration and acknowledgement of IOM3 members and non-members for their contributions to the Institute and Affiliated Local Societies, knowledge, outreach, technical achievements and published work, as well as the Student & Apprentice Awards winners.
IOM3 President Dr Kate Thornton CEng CSci FIMMM presented the 2023 IOM3 Awards & Prizes winners with their medals and certificates. On the awards, Kate said, 'As always it is a wonderful day to bring so many of our members together from a diverse range and celebrate their wondrous achievements.'
Reflecting on the day, Christopher McDonald FREng FIMMM and winner of the Thornton Medal commented, 'It is incredibly important that as a materials community we take that opportunity to recognise those people who are achieving great things in our industry, and also those who have great potential to achieve great things in the future as well.'
Winner of the Student & Apprentice Awards Category 4 and 2023 Royal Charter Prize, Rosanna Roskilly AIMMM said , ‘I hope this award will give me the confidence to pursue opportunities during my career that perhaps I would feel I wasn't qualified or good enough to put myself forward for.'
