IOM3 celebrates Chartered Week

IOM3 celebrates the first Chartered Week, held between 24-28 February.

Chartered Week is a celebration of Chartered practice and individuals who are raising the standard for professionalism, ethics, and competence in their industries.

This year is the first time that this national awareness week has been celebrated, and the theme Celebrating Trusted Professionals recognises the Chartered heroes whose work and commitment help to strengthen public confidence in their sector.

Professional registration is an important aspect of our work at IOM3 which involves delivering excellence and upholding standards of professionalism and competence to build trust within the industries we are present in. With dedicated resources to help members take the next step in their careers by getting registered, we help create an environment of trust and credibility for the professionals associated with us.

This year for Chartered Week, we collaborated with three other awarding bodies; the Society for the Environment, Engineering Council, and Science Council, to produce a blog that focuses on why you should consider getting chartered and the relevance of professional registration.

IOM3 CEO Dr Colin Church CEnv FIMMM says, 'Chartership is a mark of trust, leadership, and professional integrity. At IOM3, we champion Chartered professionals who drive sustainable progress and technical excellence, reinforcing the vital role they play in shaping the future of our industries.'

IOM3 Director of Membership Paul Skerry CEng FIMMM adds, 'Chartered professionals are instrumental in driving innovation and excellence across a variety of disciplines including the materials, minerals, and mining sector. Professional registration is an integral part of building trust within the community, staying connected to the latest advancements and conversations in your field, and building a network of credible and committed colleagues. At IOM3, we are proud to contribute to individuals’ professional journeys by providing them with the pathways and support to achieve professional recognition, ensuring they uphold the highest standards in their field and the wider community.'

The IOM3 Membership team also held a Chartership Q&A session on 24 February to mark the beginning of Chartered Week. Director of Membership Paul Skerry CEng FIMMM, Membership Development Manager Jamie Graham MIMMM, and one of our members Dr David Routledge CEng FIMMM held the session with members and non-members alike who wanted to understand the processes behind Professional Registration.
