IOM3 appoints new Chair of Ceramics Leadership Team
The Institute is pleased to announce it has appointed Dr Emma Claxton CEng FIMMM as Chair of the Ceramics Leadership Team.
Dr Claxton has worked for Rolls-Royce plc for over twenty-five years and is a Technical Programme Manager working for the UltraFan® Project. Within this role Dr Claxton is looking after validation testing for the introduction of a composite fan sub-system. Dr Claxton has a PhD from Imperial College for work on glass-ceramic composites and previous technical roles have involved working with ceramic composites for high temperature turbine applications and with ceramics and glass-ceramics for fuel cell stacks and sealing.
Dr Claxton, who has been involved with the IOM3 for many years as part of the previous Ceramics Society, became a Fellow of the Institute 2020, and received the Verulam Medal & Prize for Ceramics in 2022.
Speaking about the appointment Dr Claxton, said, ‘I am honoured and excited to be appointed as Chair of the Ceramics Leadership Team. Being able to support members working within the ceramics industry is key to creating an effective peer support network. In this role I look to develop a diverse leadership team across the ceramics community'.
