Dr Richard Oblath announced as Chair of Technology Communities Board

IOM3 is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Richard M Oblath CEng FIMMM FEI as the new Chair of the Technology Communities Board (TCB)

With a wealth of experience and expertise, Richard steps into this pivotal role with a clear vision for the future of IOM3 Technical Communities. His extensive background, coupled with his commitment to excellence, makes him an ideal candidate to lead the TCB.

As Chair, Richard's primary focus will be on enhancing the governance and standards of the TCB, which now encompasses 22 Technical Communities, a consolidation from the previous 47, along with nine strategic advisors. This strategic shift aims to streamline operations and foster greater collaboration among members.

In his own words, Richard emphasises the importance of engaging members across diverse backgrounds and specialties. He says, ‘Our members represent a very wide range of expertise from the Materials, Minerals and Mining sectors. As Chair of the TCB I will work with the Board for ways we can attract more of our members into active roles within the most relevant Technical Communities for them. I look to all members of IOM3 to attract additional members especially from underrepresented groups. In all organisations where I have served, I have found diversity builds strength.’
