The Henry Royce Institute says the accelerator will directly unlock £150-£200mln of funding by highlighting R&D opportunities for hydrogen materials and presenting them as a de-risked prospectus to investors.

RHA Chair Jack Boyer says, 'The RHA has been designed to fit in with the existing hydrogen ecosystem in the UK. This thriving community has the backing and investment of government, and now the accelerator will support it to progress these crucial materials capabilities.'

The Henry Royce Institute says that the UK is ideally placed to grow an influential hydrogen materials industry but needs to hasten materials innovation to enable the hydrogen energy supply chain and secure an essential role in the global market.

Ministers at the Departments for Science, Innovation and Technology, Business and Trade, and Energy Security and Net Zero have all voiced their support.
