Businesses and NGOs agree to end plastic pollution by 2040

Eleven private-sector organisations and two NGOs sign-up at a Defra roundtable.

Signatories agree to develop a legally binding, international instrument on plastic pollution ahead of the fifth session of UN negotations on a plastic pollution treaty.

The statement was signed by private-sector organisations, including ING, Mars, Nestlé, Tesco, Unilever and Waitrose, as well as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and WRAP.

The statement is open for other organisations to sign until 25 November.
