British Steel latest – supplies arrive, nationalisation likely
Shipments of coking coal and iron ore from the USA have been delivered to Scunthorpe.

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has since confirmed that another shipment of coking coal is on the way to the UK from Australia. The UK government, is now commenting that is is ‘confident’ the blast furnaces will have enough supplies for ‘coming weeks’.
Business secretary Jonathan Reynolds told reporters in Scunthorpe that nationalisation was the ‘likely option at this stage’.
Meanwhile in Wales, Plaid Cymru’s leader Rhun ap Iorwerth has urged both the UK and Welsh Labour Governments to commit to significant investment in Port Talbot following the closure of Tata's blast furnaces last year.
ap Iorwerth made a statement claiming that the Port Talbot community is ‘angry’ and betrayed following the UK Government’s decision to take control of British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant when the same level of job preservation was not given in Wales.
