Professional requirements & training
IOM3 has active supporters and volunteers working in many different areas of its business, which require different knowledge, skills, and experience. All roles require individuals to be members. It is in fact beneficial to be a member, as non-members cannot claim travel expenses to attend IOM3 physical meetings, including meetings of the group they might be directly involved with. Some roles however require active supporters or volunteers not only to be members at a particular grade, but also to hold professional registration such as Chartered Engineer (CEng); others might also require specialist training, which IOM3 will provide.
Any applicable requirements of your active supporter or volunteer role will be explained to you at the time of application and, with the exception of specific training which IOM3 will give, you will not be offered the role unless you can meet our requirements at that point.
Mandatory training
All active supporters and volunteers are expected to keep themselves up to date on data protection and GDPR; equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI); and unconscious bias in particular. We accept training undertaken elsewhere in these subjects – individuals will be asked to provide documentary evidence of this training. Alternatively, IOM3 can provide access to suitable training. Please speak to your normal IOM3 Team contact for further information
Specific role training
Other training required for the active supporter or volunteer role that you undertake will be arranged by the IOM3 Team member responsible for the activity you are involved with and normally will be offered within three months of your appointment to the role. A record of your successfully completing the training will be maintained on your membership record.
