Below is a list of organisations and funds that also help those in need.

Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation  (www.ciswo.org.uk)

The organisation delivers community and personal welfare services within mining and former mining communities. It provides One-Stop-Shops and IT learning opportunities, facilitates lifelong learning, raises achievement with under 5s support and runs after-school clubs. It offers advocacy, group support, outreach employment services and credit unions to address deprivation, unemployment and disaffection.

Institute of Clayworkers Benevolent Fund (www.ceramics-uk.org/news/financial-help-available-for-clay-workers-in-need)

The Fund offers financial assistance on behalf of employees, past and present, of British Ceramic Confederation member companies. To be eligible, employees must have been involved in the production of heavy clay and refractory goods.


Mining Institute of Scotland Trust (www.iom3.org/group/mining-institute-of-scotland.html)

The Trustees have a number of funds, which can be disbursed in certain manner and for certain purposes, including assistance to:

  • Former Mining Institute of Scotland (MIS) members
  • Members or former members of IMM living in Scotland or who worked in connection with Scottish mining matters for at least five consecutive years
  • Spouse, widow, widower, parent, child or former dependant of (1) or (2) who by reason of poverty, indigence, illness, disability or age are in need of relief or support.

 

Professionals Aid Council (www.pcac.org.uk)

The Professionals Aid Council is a leading occupational fund, providing grants to professionals below the UK poverty line, who have a strong educational background (degree level or equivalent) or who are part of a profession that requires these academic qualifications.

Age UK aims to improve later life for everyone by offering information and advice, campaigns, products, training and research.

 

Citizens Advice (www.citizensadvice.org.uk)

The Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, independent and confidential advice to help people resolve legal, money and other problems.
