IOM3 recognises professional competence in all technologies associated with materials, minerals and mining through registration with the Engineering Council, Science Council and Society for the Environment.

Engineering Council registration
As the regulatory body for the UK engineering profession, The Engineering Council sets and maintains internationally recognised standards of professional competence and commitment. It currently holds the national register of over 230,000 individuals who have been assessed against the standards for Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer and Engineering Technician.
Science Council registration
The Science Council brings together a range of disciplines and sectors to reflect the multi-disciplinary practice of science in today’s society, offering professional registration as Chartered Scientist, Registered Scientist and Registered Science Technician.
Society for the Environment registration
The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) awards professional qualifications to dedicated and experienced environmental professionals, independent of discipline. These include Chartered Environmentalist and Registered Environmental Practitioner.
