IOM3, the leading membership organisation for the materials, minerals and mining communities, is recruiting a new Graphic Designer to join our wider Communications Team. This exciting and dynamic role provides design expertise within the Institute for all projects and activities. The Graphic Designer is responsible for the production of a wide range of promotional materials, magazines, social media assets, and artwork for all IOM3 activities and for external activities managed by IOM3.

We are looking for a candidate who is organised with the ability to work with tight deadlines, and has a strong understanding of corporate branding, with an excellent eye for detail. Experience in developing enriched material for app/digital purposes (video and audio editing) is desirable but not essential, alongside knowledge of the magazine design process.

This role is within the Communications team and provides a central design resource within IOM3 Group Services.

The role provides design expertise within the Institute for all projects and activities. The Graphic Designer is responsible for the production of a wide range of promotional materials, magazines, social media assets, and artwork for all IOM3 activities and for external activities managed by IOM3. The remit includes digital media assets as well as print.

Main responsibilities

  • Creating social media assets for all IOM3 activities including conferences and competitions
  • Maintaining corporate branding across IOM3 activities
  • Page layout and design of IOM3 member magazines
  • Taking briefs from creative through to print ready stage
  • Provision and updating of artwork for the IOM3 website
  • Design, production, and sourcing of display materials for exhibitions and events
  • Liaising closely with internal departments on design and content, including Sales and Marketing to support advertising sales activities
  • Creating and updating the corporate and promotional literature, brochures, fliers, adverts etc.
  • Liaising/negotiation with printers and suppliers
  • Design of external client adverts for magazines, as briefed by the Sales team

Skills and attributes

  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Fluent in Microsoft Word & PowerPoint (including creating templates)
  • Experience of developing digital content
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent eye for detail/proofreading skills
  • Ability to work to/maintain corporate style and branding
  • Well organized and able to manage own workload
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant qualification in design
  • Understanding of legal considerations/implication in print and digital publishing

Desirable

  • Animation skills for logo idents
  • Knowledge of print and publishing processes
  • Experience in magazine design processes
  • Experience in developing enriched material for app/digital purposes (video and audio editing)
  • Experience of print buying
