The first event of the new programme is on 24 Sept. Prof. Cameron Pleydell-Pearce from the University of Swansea is going to update us on progress that has been made of the SUSTAIN Project. The Sustain project is about reversing the decline in the UK steel industry by providing a future based on Green Steelmaking Technology. Its aim is to change the face of the UK steel making industry. Steelmaking has been prominent in the UK for generations. The SUSTAIN Future Manufacturing Research Hub is a £35M project funded by £10M of EPSRC funds as well as by Universities, Trade Bodies, RTOs and Businesses over 7 years and aims to support the industry as it develops new, more environmentally friendly options to ensure the future of manufacturing in the UK. Prof. Cameron Pleydell-Pearce is in an ideal position to talk about this initiative as he sits on the Management Board of the Project.
