The Competition is open to all students and professionals under the age of 28 on 1 June 2024 who have not placed in the top-3 in a previous UK final. The competition is open to anyone who is following, or has followed, a course in any aspect of Materials, Minerals, Mining Science and Engineering. Each entrant will give a presentation in English lasting between 12 and 15 minutes on a subject of their choice and then answer one question from each member of the judging panel. All competitors shall remain in the room for the duration of the heat.
When submitting their abstract, all entrants must commit to participate in the UK final and make sure they are available on the day (National Final 2024 will be held on Wednesday 15th May). Entries sent directly to the local heat organisers will not be eligible to compete. In case the number of entries submitted for a local heat exceeds the number set by the organisers, the organisers may shortlist the ones to compete in the local final and defer the remaining to other local heats.
