Steel is the cornerstone of modern infrastructure, and its ability to be endlessly recycled makes it a critical material for a sustainable future. This lecture will explore how Celsa Steel UK has transformed waste into wealth by becoming a leader in recycled steel production. The lecture will cover innovative processes used, including electric arc furnace technology, which allows production of 100% recycled steel, drastically reducing the carbon footprint and contributing to a circular economy.
The broader implications of steel recycling for reducing waste will be discussed including conserving natural resources, and minimising environmental impact. Finally, there will be some insights into how the principles of waste reduction and circularity can be applied across industries to build a more sustainable future.
