Professor Xu Hou - Bioinspired Multi-Scale Pores and Channels System
Nature has evolved a vast array of biological materials with smart functions over millions of years, inspiring the development of biomimetic materials. A key inspiration comes from pros and channels structures in living organisms. Mimicking these, smart artificial micro/nano pore and channel systems have been developed for a wide range of applications in materials science, membrane technology, biomedical, environmental, and energy fields. These systems explore multi-scale pores and channels, contributing to advances in energy efficiency, anti-fouling, anti-corrosion, and anti-blocking functionalities, alongside improved switchability, controllability, and stability. Hou’s group research focuses on bioinspired smart porous systems, particularly in Liquid Gating Technology and Bioinspired Nanofluidic Iontronics.
