CWMS is pleased to announce a lecture by Dr Lee Aucott of UK Industrial Fusion Solutions Ltd and Manufacturing Lead for the STEP programme.
Abstract:
The UK’s Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) programme is a UK-led, world-leading programme. It is bringing government and industry together to develop fusion energy, scale it, and then deliver it at pace. Its mission is to generate net energy from fusion and to stimulate an industry that will help prove its commercial viability. STEP has recently completed its conceptual design phase. It is now moving into engineering design with increased emphasis on technology development and validation. An overview of the status of the STEP programme will be presented, with special focus on the key materials and manufacturing challenges on the path to delivery UK fusion power.
