Accelerating Additive Manufacturing Adoption at The MTC

This talk will be given by Dr Matt Thomas, Chief Engineer, The Manufacturing Technology Centre.
With 20 years post-graduate experience in the Metals Industry Matt's main activities at The MTC include technology strategy development for the component manufacturing technologies theme, academic engagement and technical governance. Matt is Technical lead for the ESA Additive Manufacturing Benchmarking Centre at the MTC. In this talk, Matt will review the role and capabilities of the MTC and summarise some of the key projects that demonstrate component complexity and the range of available materials associated with additive manufacturing (AM) that could be of significant benefit to automotive, aerospace and space industries. The studies presented here will share some practical insight into overcoming barriers experienced in adopting and industrialising metal AM and some of the recent output regarding productivity and performance achieved.
