We are pleased to announce the return of the Timber conference as an in-person event in 2022. This is a conference for the UK timber industry, wood technologists, wood scientists and related trades. Presenting many new and interesting concepts and developments in timber, wood science and related fields.
The primary aim of the event is to showcase the latest developments in timber research in the UK, and to prompt discussion of new products, processes and concepts and their potential within the UK. Transfer of knowledge between academia and businesses, and between specialists in the many areas of timber and wood science will strengthen our industry.
Objectives of Timber 2022
- To highlight new advances in timber, engineering, wood science, wood processing and performance of wood products
- To excite the new generation of researchers addressing industrial challenges
- To promote advances in understanding, predicting and controlling the performance of wood in a wide range of contexts
The conference will span all topics related to timber – from the largest structures to the smallest models of molecular structure or cell wall ultrastructure. The organisers seek to balance the fundamental lab- and forest-based experiments through to the industrial application and development of new products. Topics will range from preservation to panel products; modified wood to engineered lumber.
Why you should attend Timber 2022
The one-day conference provides an ideal opportunity for networking, while allowing delegates to present and discuss their work from a wide range of backgrounds. The new connections and context given by talking with wood experts from other fields offers many opportunities to strengthen and create active UK-based research networks, and to stimulate new ideas which will benefit the industry in years to come.
Organised by the IOM3 Wood Technology Group (previously the Wood Technology Society), this event follows on from Timber 2020 (online) and previous in-person events, Timber 2018 and Timber 2019.
