As part of its Sustainable Future theme to help build momentum ahead of COP26, IOM3 is hosting a week of virtual events across 6-10 September. This week will showcase the vital role of professionals in materials, minerals and mining in the transition to a low carbon, resource efficient society.
Monday 6 September
The first day of the series will explore the role of resource efficiency and the transition to a more circular economy with presentations from Professor Lenny Koh, and representatives from WRAP and OPRL.
Tuesday 7 September
The second day of the series will focus on the extractive industries and how they can play a crucial role in decarbonisation and the route to net-zero. This will include the role of mining and how critical raw material extraction are vital parts of the overall strategy towards a net-zero future.
Wednesday 8 September
The third day will focus on the materials and processing industries. The day will concentrate on the different materials types and what companies are doing to reduce the carbon footprints of what are vitally important products to the economy.
Thursday 9 September
The penultimate day of the series will to focus on the energy materials/processing industries. The day will concentrate on the different energy materials, the drive towards the energy transition (away from fossil fuel) and what companies are doing to reduce the carbon footprints of what are vitally important products to the economy.
Friday 10 September
The final day of the series will focus on the key aspect of people and how having the right people, with the right skills, in the right place, at the right time is key to facilitating decarbonisation and the route to net-zero.
