We are delighted to be running a one-day course as an introduction to rechargeable batteries, in partnership with Michelle Lynch from Enabled Futures.  

In this one-day intensive workshop, we delve into the transformative impact of advanced, cost-effective rechargeable batteries across sectors where electrification is key for decarbonisation: transportation, energy storage, and industrial equipment. This course is designed to arm participants with crucial insights and skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving battery technology landscape.

This course will cover the following key modules;

  1. Battery Basics: Acquire a solid foundation in the electrochemistry and mechanics of rechargeable batteries and their pivotal role in global electrification efforts
  2. Sector Specific Applications:  Transportation, Energy Solutions, Industrial Use, Consumer Goods, Industry 4.0, Internet of Things (IoT)
  3. Chronology of Battery Technology:  Trace the evolution of battery technology from its inception to current cutting edge advancements
  4. Technical Deep Dive:  Production techniques for lithium-ion batteries (LIB's), Understanding the key performance indicators and benchmarks for electrochemical performance, overview of predominant battery chemistries (NCM, NCA, LFP, LNMO), innovations in solid state and other emerging technologies (Sodium-ion, Vanadium-flow, Lithium-air), cell and pack developments and their contribution to electrochemical performance
  5. Regulatory Frameworks:  Master the nuances of global policies and incentives that influence battery production and deployment
  6. Resource Management:  Evaluate the supply chain, mining, processing, and recycling of sustainable critical raw materials for batteries including key battery metals (Li, Ni, Co, Mn) and non-metals (graphite, silicon, speciality carbons etc)
  7. Techno-Economics:  Understand the cost structure of batteries and the key factors affecting their market pricing

This course is relevant to anyone with an interest in overseeing operational efficiency, looking for eco-friendly solutions and identifying opportunities in green technology.

The course fee for this one-day programme based at The Boilerhouse in Grantham is £595 plus VAT at 20% where applicable.  IOM3 members and subscribers to our Business Partner Programme are entitled to a discount of 10% on the course fee.  Fees includes CPD Certificate, lunch and refreshments
