Fractography of Ceramics

One-day course exploring the limitations of brittle materials through fractography

The next course will take place at Lucideon in Stoke-on-Trent, on Thursday 12 June 2025.

We are delighted to be running a one-day course on fractography for ceramics, in collaboration with Professor Lilly Liu and Dr Roger Morrell.

This course is aimed at materials science students, early career researchers and engineers wishing to gain an understanding of how to use fractography to explore the limitations of brittle materials and to solve problems.

This one day in person course combines lectures and practical demonstrations. The course will cover:

  • Fundamental principles of brittle fracture
  • Practical aspects for studying cracks and fracture origins
  • Practical sessons on flexureal strength and participant components
  • Case studies dealing with component failures

The special introductory fee for this one-day programme based at Lucideon is £195 plus VAT at 20% where applicable.  This includes lunch and refreshments.  IOM3 members and subscribers to our Business Partner Programme are entitled to a discount of 10% on the course fee.  IOM3 Student members are entitled to a heavily discounted rate of £75.
