Schools Brief A: The Product Design Brief

 Introduction

We are always being encouraged to make sure we eat our five a day, but delicate fruits and vegetable can easily get bruised during transit or go brown if they are not eaten straight away.
As we all live busy lives and often eat on the go, a convenient pack that can contain a number of portions of fruits and vegetables for us to graze on throughout the day would make achieving that five a day easier.

The Brief

Design a pack to contain three portions of ready to eat fruit and/or vegetables suitable for a young person (11 to 18) to use on the go throughout the day.
Your should ensure that your design can be reused at least 10 times and that you choose materials that can be recycled once the consumer has finished with it.

Points to consider

  • The conditions the pack experience during storage, transit and use
  • The pack needs to be able to be opened and resealed to allow grazing throughout the day
  • How the pack can be reused and/recycled after initial use.  You should design your pack so that it can be refilled at home
  • The pack should be designed to appeal to a younger audience and encourage them to each fruit and vegetables

Materials to be used

  • You can choose any materials or combination of materials for your pack

  • Your materials should be strong enough to be reused and be easily recycled in normal household rubbish
