Technical Manager - Liberty Performance Steels, West Midlands
The Technical Manager will lead the technical development of our business and processes to deliver value and volume growth at Liberty Performance Steels in the West Midlands. This growing business represents an excellent opportunity working for an established manufacturing company supplies strip steel products to global hand tool brands like Black & Decker, Stanley, Morse and G-Man, and to world’s industrial blade and cutting tools applications, selling in over 55 different countries. Our product, although simple to look at, is highly technical in nature. The business will set a benchmark in service and product capability, but will be driven by its ability to differentiate through innovation, customer focussed engineering and technical capabilities. The Technical Manager will play a key role in developing our differentiated products, innovating around process, and supporting customers and the sales team to will drive profitability through technical excellence.
The role exists to develop and implement quality processes and to lead the product and process innovation needed to keep our business differentiating through product excellence, technology and quality. The Technical Manager will interact with external equipment and raw material suppliers, and with a global customer base, as well as with all key function within the business.
The role is a senior leader position in a dynamic and exciting environment. The job holder will be expected to contribute to wider business issues and to be able to balance short and long term priorities in a fast-changing business
The position requires graduate level or equivalent capability, with appropriate professional training, qualifications and experience in a metallurgy-based discipline. A knowledge of the steel products and processes used within the production of special steel strip is desirable but not essential. More important is a strong metallurgical foundation upon which specific product knowledge can be developed. Technical aptitude is important, and relevant training in products and processes will be given. The role requires the ability to self-manage and strong communication and problem solving skills. The Jobholder must have the ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales.

£40k plus depending on the experience of the candidate
