MTRC 1128: Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter to Admiralty Tunnels
IOM3 Hong Kong Technical Visit
The Shatin to Central Link 1128 Contract comprises the construction of twin tunnels connecting causeway bay typhoon shelter cut and cover tunnels to Exhibition Station (East area) and the construction of twin tunnels connecting Exhibition Station to the existing Admiralty Station (West area).
The Up track tunnel to the East and the Up track & Down track tunnels to the West will be constructed by a Slurry Mixshield TBM. The east Down Track tunnel will be constructed by a specially designed Variable Density TBM due to the limited ground cover and challenging ground conditions. Other works include a ventilation shaft & buildings, ground treatment works and major bridge underpinning across the East and the West areas.
Attendees to the site visit would have a unique opportunity to appreciate the latest TBM constructing a tunnel under one of the busiest districts of Hong Kong, further the visit with provide some understanding of the challenges faced when undertaking urban tunnelling works.

The visit is free of charge. To register, please send your IOM3 membership number and mobile phone details to Ir Kelvin Choi, IOM3 HK Honorary Secretary.
Registration will be on a first-come first-serve first-served basis and priority given to IOM3 Members. Successful applicants will be notified on or before 9 Sept 2017.
A Certificate of Attendance (2.5hrs) for Continuing Professional Development will be provided at the end of the event.
Safety Equipment and Photo posting
Participants must bring their own Personal Safety Equipment including safety helmets, safety reflective vest and safety boots. Participants without their Personal Safety Equipment will not be allowed to enter the site.
